Day 1: Arrival Tirana Durres

Flight to Tirana and transfer to our hotel in Durres.

Day 2: Durres Tirana Berat Durres

After breakfast, discover Tirana, the capital of Albania. During the city tour, you will have the opportunity to discover a city known for its colorful buildings. A visit to the National History Museum, located on Skanderbeg Square, will introduce you to Albania's rich history. Here, on this square, you will also visit the Et'hem Bey Mosque, which was preserved during the communist era thanks to its historical value. Right next door are other sights such as the opera house, the so-called clock tower, and the Palace of Culture, as well as the Orthodox and Catholic cathedrals. We then continue to National Martyrs' Boulevard. Here you will learn about the everyday life of the former dictator Enver Hoxha. Walk through the Blloku district, the most popular district for young people, businesses, and cafés. Drive to Berat, also known as “the city of windows,” one of the most beautiful places in Albania, which was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2008. The town, bordered by a gigantic mountain range, is surrounded by an old city wall and looks back on 2,000 years of history. Above the well-preserved old town with its Ottoman architectural tradition lies the castle with its unique view, a Roman cistern, and the Cathedral of St. Mary, which is integrated into the Onufri Museum.

Day 3: Durres Kruja Ura E Mesit Shkoder

After breakfast, morning tour of Durres. Continue north to Shkodra, the largest city in northern Albania. The buildings we see on a walk through the pedestrian zone reveal Italian and Austrian influences. From the impressive Rozafa Castle, we enjoy the breathtaking view of the Albanian Alps and Lake Skadar. Then we continue to the Mesi Bridge, “THIRTEEN ARCHES THAT CARRY THE WEIGHT OF 300 YEARS.” The Mesi Bridge is the largest bridge in Albania from the Ottoman period and is therefore a highly valued cultural monument. Check-in at our hotel in Shkodra.

Day 4: Shkodra Ulcinj Petrovac Sveti Stefan Budva

Today, our journey takes us to the Montenegrin border. First, we visit Ulcinj, Montenegro's southernmost city. Once under Ottoman rule, it was home to a notorious slave market—one of the most famous slaves was the Spanish poet Miguel Cervantes. Next on the agenda is the former fishing village of Petrovac, located on a beautiful red sand bay. Once we arrive in Budva, we will start with a walk through the city and check into our hotel.

Day 5: At Leisure

Day for free activities.

Day 6: Budva – Tivat – Risan – Perast – Kotor – Budva

Today you will travel to the Bay of Kotor, one of the most beautiful landscapes in the Mediterranean, surrounded by high mountains and picturesque towns along the coast. In the morning, you will experience the charm of the port city of Tivat, which was first developed as a naval base by the Venetians and then by the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Stroll through the marina of Tivat, known as “Porto Montenegro,” past huge yachts and luxury apartments. On the way to enchanting Kotor, we will stop in Risan. The town is located in the innermost corner of the fjord-like bay, below the almost 1,000-meter-high limestone walls of the Orjen Mountains. We will continue along the impressive coastal road and stop in Perast, right on the shore of the bay. Perast includes the small islands of St. George and St. Mary, which offer an idyllic view. We then continue to Kotor for a tour of the UNESCO World Heritage city – one of the most beautiful historic cities in the entire Mediterranean region. Here we treat ourselves to a little free time. Return to the hotel.

Day 7: Budva – Skadar Lake– Bar – Durres

After breakfast, we will first head south to Lake Skadar and the national park of the same name. Upon arrival, we will take a boat out onto the lake and visit, among other things, the former state prison “Montenegrin Alcatraz,” an abandoned prison island. We then drive to the city of Bar. The old town nestles in the protection of a castle perched on a rock in the Rumija Mountains. It was not until the 19th century that this abandoned settlement developed into the new district of Novi Grad. Drive to the border and check into our hotel in Durres.
